My name is Michael Simmons and I am currently in Year 11 at Carshalton Boys Sports College about to take my GCSEs. I have always been a keen sportsman, playing football regularly since the age of 9 and enjoying a relatively new sport for me of Triathlons for the past 2 years. Strangely, cycling is my least favourite discipline in triathlon events, and the cycle to Amsterdam will certainly be a challenge!
Back in September last year, I signed up for a once in a lifetime trip to Cambodia. When I am there I will be living within a poor rural community and amongst other things I will be undertaking charity work by working to improve their local school facilities. You can find out more on the "My Trip to Cambodia 2016" page. The cost of this trip is nearly £3500 and I have been working hard, juggling GCSE revision, and coming up with fundraising plans in order to pay for this trip myself.
One of my greatest supporters in my fundraising quest has been our very good family friend Lisa Kelly. Lisa is an MS sufferer. She has a daughter my own age, and I have grown up seeing the effects that this devastating and debilitating disease has on both Lisa and Molly. I would really like to donate half of the funds I manage to raise to the MS Society in recognition of all Lisa's support and friendship over the years. You can find out more about the MS Society and how it helps sufferers and their families on "The MS Society" page.
